WELCOME

MacRobert & Canals is a small family cellar that strives to search and deliver special wines from Rioja. Hand crafting wines from small vineyard
plots using a combination of techniques and skill to deliver the very best grapes into wine in bottle. We understand the
connection between the purity in the glass and hard work in the vineyards.

ABOUT US

La Rioja is one of the most well known wine regions of the world. The climate and soil have the capacity to produce grapes of
exceptional quality that transcend into wines of exceptional quality and character. MacRobert & Canals aspires to participate in this line
and respect and maintain the spirit of traditional Rioja producing wines that are modern yet traditional.

For me this represents a great challenge and satisfaction to learn and develop in a place as traditional as Rioja, sharing
experiences I have acquired working in other wine regions of the world.

Laventura is the name of our first wine; it intends to unite ¨aventura¨ and ¨ventura¨. Two words in Spanish and English that
describe adventure and venture uniting uncertainty and risk with a certain amount of luck and fortune.

We aspire to convince you to participate in our adventure and have the venture to drink our wines.

Vineyards

We search the whole of Rioja for the very best and unique vineyards that produce quality fruit. Care is taken to nurture and manage the vines throughout the different growing seasons as each season demands different techniques and practices to optimise quality and expression.

Cellar

We use the best suited barrels and cement tanks to ferment and age the wine. Our focus is on preserving the fruit and purity of the vineyards in separate lots bringing out the best of what each vineyard has to offer.

THE WINEMAKER

Bryan MacRobert was born in Cape Town South Africa, where he grew up on a farm North of Cape Town running around in the vineyards in the Swartland region. Where he learnt to cultivate vineyards and to produce his first wines whilst studying Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

After graduating he spent seven years travelling between North and South: Spain and South Africa, two very different countries with something in common: great wines. He was working between Priorat and Swartland, and at the same time starting his own small project in South Africa.

Working in these regions, Bryan learnt how to make wine from ageing vineyard plots that produce special, unique wines of high quality. Wines made from the soil.

But then, how did he end up with his adventure in Rioja? Among falling in love not just with the region´s fine wines, he realized the great diversity that this region could offer and all the new challenges to discover.

Although he still keeps to his roots and produces South African wines, with his own small company Bryan MacRobert Wines, in 2013 he started his new adventure in Rioja: MacRobert & Canals.

In both companies, the main attention is paid to the quality of the farming and the grapes. That’s the only secret to make a good wine.

Bryan now lives in Logroño, La Rioja and overseas all the wine production and cultivation of the vineyards of MacRobert & Canals. Respecting the challenge, learning and developing the potential Rioja has to offer. All vineyards are farmed according to organic guidelines and principals. Sustainable production is favoured in the production of the products produced by Bryan MacRobert.

We as MacRobert & Canals invite you to try and discover our caring cultivation of the land, passion and effort that has been captured in each bottle.
